AVENGERS ASSASSINATED?! - Marvel Series Cancelled At Disney Junior To End In 2028; Spidey and Iron Man Axed To Make Room for Upcoming Avengers Preschool Ripoff Next Year

It seems as another major Disney property's hilariously bad preschool series ripoff is about to get the chop. Disney Junior, Marvel Comics Entertainment and Atomic Cartoons announced on Monday morning that its two Marvel preschool series Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends (premiered in August 2021) and last year's successful sequel series Iron Man and his Awesome Friends (premiered in August 2025) featuring its rock opera soundtrack by punk legends Fallout Boys and Blink-182 are unfortunately cancelled and getting Thanos-snapped off the air.

On Monday July 20, the Disney Junior MCU's creator and executive producer/showrunner James Garcia had announced that both series would wrap production. Team Spidey will bow out with a blaze of glory after the upcoming sixth season renewed last year and that its sequel series of Iron Friends will be another victim of the one hit wonder pile as the Iron Man sequel was conceived so bad on its August 11 premiere it doesn't deserve a second season.

Much like last year's cancellations of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures and Firebuds, the Disney Junior Iron Man series is expected to wrap up around the Christmas 2026 season during this year's upcoming Magical Holidays/Falala-lidays tentpole programming. The series finale of Spidey after the upcoming season 6 is expected to wrap up around at least April 2028. The Marvel series deaths are due to the upcoming newest Marvel series in the Disney Junior catalog as they're expected to wrap up the trilogy with Spidey and Iron Man merging into the upcoming Avengers: Mightiest Friends which is expected to premiere on Disney Junior and Disney+ around August 2027.

Marvel's Spidey and his Amazing Friends is the first Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior preschool series in the two networks' three-decade history to die after six seasons breaking the previous five-season record held by Doc McStuffins and Puppy Dog Pals dead in 2020 and 2023 respectively.

Iron Man and his Awesome Friends is the ninth series to be cancelled as a massive failure for the network ending with a one hit wonder being killed after only a single season of episodes and the show is so stupid it deserves to die and doesn't get a second season. The other series to fall into this victim pile include Breakfast with Bear, Bunnytown, The Rocketeer, The Chicken Squad, Eureka!, Kiva and the Kamoja Heroes, Morphle and the Magic Pets and Kindergarten School Musical. It is also the third Marvel series to die after only one season following the illegal Nickelodeon broadcasted Wolverine and the X-Men and Disney XD's worst Team Spidey series yet, Spectacular Spider-Man.
