After five years of Thomas the Tank Engine fans causing confusion and delay being stupid idiots complaining about the All Engines Go! saga for no reason, Mattel has no choice but to cancel the series and sentenced Thomas to the scrapyard and start all over again.
Mattel's Hit Entertainment and Nelvana Limited have announced that one of the greatest preschool franchises of all time, Thomas & Friends will be rebranded back to its original CGI roots for a whole new generation of really useful Thomas fans. Set for release this fall in September 2026, the all new seventh generation of the award-winning franchise will whisk Thomas fans back to Sodor for a whole new enhanced 3D CGI animation experience exclusively on the official Thomas YouTube channel.
The all new reboot of Thomas & Friends (Season 29, 26 episodes) brings Thomas & Friends back to its original roots with vibrant CGI animation, aa mature voice cast and an actual narrator. The new batch of episodes will once again see Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby, Emily, Nia, Rebecca, Devious Diesel, the Troublesome Trucks, Bertie the Bus, Harold the Helicopter, Terrence the Tractor and the railway's boss Sir Topham Hatt (or the original rude nickname of The Fat Controller if you live in the UK or other countries outside of America) on a whole new slew of adventures as they continue to railroad duties on the magical world of The Island of Sodor.
It's currently unknown what episodes will be titled or who will be the new narrator of the show, but some sources speculate that it will go back to the original version of the show post-Season 22 with the Engine Roll Call being the show's signature theme song instead of some 2D animated slop.
Thomas & Friends has made over 800+ episodes and 25 movies and specials alongside the original 42 books of the Railway Series ever since the Reverend Wilbert Awdry, Britt Allcroft and David Mitton first concepted the franchise in the summer of 1945 after World War II when Awdry published the iconic tank engine's adventures when his son and future Thomas content creator Christopher Awdry was recovering from the serious measles disease. A majority of the franchise including some of the engines, Island of Sodor landmarks and hilarious crash scenes are based on actual landmarks of British railways and tragic real-world events that inspired Awdry and company to create the iconic world of talking trains and other nonsensical talking vehicles that has been loved by generations of kids and families.
The new Thomas & Friends CG return is part of the current slate of Hit Entertainment titles from Mattel which also includes the upcoming second season of Barney's World, a new CGI animated take on the classic Barney & Friends as seen PBS and Cartoon Network, an upcoming Pingu revival from the legendary stop-motion company Aardman Animations (known famous for the Oscar Academy Awards-winning Wallace & Gromit franchise, Chiccken Run, Shaun the Sheep and Timmy Time), new episodes of the modern Fireman Sam since its introduction in 2005 and an upcoming Bob the Builder movie directed and produced by Jennifer Lopez. A revival series of Angelina Ballerina was also announced back in 2017 but that reboot series is still in development with no release date or network attached to it.
