This is the third season in Sesame Street's current contract deal to premiere at the beginning of the year right after the New Years holidays, following Seasons 46-47 in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Unfortunately, the new season of Sesame Street kills off two birds in one stone, as it's not only the final season to be aired in the current deal between Sesame Workshop, PBS and the stupid content purging and project cancellation idiots at Warner Bros. Discovery, but sadly it is also the last season to use the iconic magazine style format that has been a core staple since day one.

Starting with Season 56 slated to premiere on Sesame Street's potential new broadcasters of Disney+ and Apple TV+ in November 2025, Sesame Street will be reinventing itself for a whole new generation, taking on the more tried and tested methods of having each half-hour episode consisting of two 11-15 minute stories each, which has been a common practice for the franchise ever since they started doing this format in the show's 33rd season back in 2002 which saw the dawn of its 4000th episode.

The ending of the magazine format going into 2026 means that unfortunately the show will be losing its iconic sketches, including miniseries starring its three corporate mascots, Abby Cadabby's Amazing Adventures, Cookie Monster's Foodie Truck and everybody's favorite, Elmo's World. Also gone following the end of season 56 is its iconic experimental animations, funny song parodies, its signature sponsors of the letters and numbers of the day, and of course the biggest blow, the new reimagining will lack celebrity appearances for no reason at all whatsoever.

It's currently unknown whether the current set of Sesame Street miniseries including Elmo's World, Cookie Monster's Foodie Truck, Abby Cadabby's Amazing Adventures, Elmo & Tango's Mysterious Mysteries and the newly launched Sesame Street: Nature Explorers will get cancelled or continue as separate miniseries as when the show is aired internationally in other countries, global channels like Disney Junior in Southeast Asia, Channel 5's Milkshake in the UK and ABC Kids in Australia air the Sesame Street segment series such as Abby's Flying Fairy School, Bert and Ernie's Great Adventures, Elmo: The Musical, Cookie Monster's Crumby Pictures, Global Grover, Super Grover 2.0 and Murray Has a Little Lamb as their own separate shows with their own end credits.
