On This Day - SMTV Live & CD UK Premiered

IT'S STILL GOTTA RHYME!!!!!!!!! On this day 22 YEARS AGO, the legendary CITV sketch comedy and music countdown programs SM:TV Live and CD UK first invaded our screens. Over its five and eight-year runs from August 1998-April 2006, a recruit of the legendary hosts including the founding trio of Ant & Dec and Cat Deeley, James Redmond, Brian Dowling, Tess Daley, STEPS members Ian H. Watkins and Claire Richards, Shavaughn Rouakure, Desman Clarke and CITV regular Stephen Mulhern were to entertain the youngsters with some of the greatest comedy sketches as well as a rundown of the biggest music stars at the time.

At 11:30AM following the end of the SMTV Live episodes, the music program CD UK would be broadcasted. Ant, Dec & Cat would still take part in the prograsm until March 2005.

In 2017 following the final episode of Season 14 of Ant & Dec's Saturday Nights Takeaway being filmed  at the Walt Disney World theme park in Orlando, Florida with the SMTV trio reuniting, it was announced that a reunion of the series would air in 2019, but unfortunately plans were cancelled.

Recently as part of Ant & Dec's 30 years of television celebration, the Geordie boys have confirmed that a reboot of SMTV & CD:UK may happen in some way shape or form, but they are still not sure of what date to air it on or how many episodes the reboot will contain.
