On this day, 19 YEARS AGO, a kmoment of television history was made. Longtime host of Nickelodeon's phenomena Blue's Clues Steven Burns (aged 28-29 at the time) departed from the show and went to "college" which led to the takeover of new host Donovan Patton as Joe.
This departure has also sparked one of the largest rumor hoaxes of the channel's history of how Steve even left the program. A majority of these rumors made no sense, even for Mr. Burns himself such as he died to an unknown disease or he got killed driving a Dodge Charger which are NOT true and are just rumor hoaxes to make a legend worried about his future.
Luckily, he is still alive. He proofed these rumors were wrong in an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (hosted by Rosie O. Donnell at the time) to prove to the nation that he would still be okay and was alive and well.
The REAL reason he departed the production in the first place was due to his aging and also that a majority of his hair was falling off and he wanted it to look perfection every time he filmed the episodes and went on camera. After 2006, Burns got rid of alll his hair and remained bald as revealed on camera in a 2006 15-minute documentary about the series.
Today, Burns makes children's albums with The Flaming Lips guitarist Steven Drozd and has also made two comeback appearances on the recent 2019 incarnation of the legacy he left behind.
"Thanks again for all of your help". - Steven Burns, 4.29.2002
