We are so saddended to report the death of legendary Sesame Street star Emillio Delgado who played Luis Rodriguez on the show who passed away last morning at the age of 82. Delgado had been working with the Sesame residents since 1971.
Two of Emillios crowning moments on the franchise was his Broadway-style duets that he and his SS wife Sonia Manzano "Maria" (The Casagrandes, creator of Alma's Way) "Sing Your Synonyms" a slight parody of the hit number "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off" from the legendary Fred Astaire musical Shall We Dance? and "You Say Hola and I Say Hola" which would late get a cover version by Gloria Estefan on May 3, 1999 featured on the 2004 episode compilation DVD Sesame Sings Karaoke Night.
RIP Emillio. Thank you for your continuous enthusiasm and contribution to the three longest running preschool programs of all time, behind ABC Kids Australia's Play School at 56 years and CITV UK's Sooty at 67 years. You are one of the most influential billingual stars that has touched hundreds upon millions of children.
We love you so much Emillo. Gracias otra vez and audios amigo.
