As PBS and HBO's long-running Emmy® and Grammy® Award-breaking Sesame Street starts production on its Season 54 premiering in November 2023, unfortunately the Queens, New York Sesame residents are unfortunately concerned with yet another SS OG who is no longer with us.
We are so saddened to report the death of Sesame's long-serving VP and co-creator Llloyd Morrisett Jr. who had died passed away yesterday at the age of 94 years old. She and surviving creator and original boss and president of Sesame Workshop, Joan Ganz Cooney are the two women responsible to thank for the creation of this never-ending preschool television powerhouse. She is survived by Cooney and the street's Music & Sound Effects Design Producer Richard "Dick" Maitland the latter of which is the only surviving OG who has been with the award-wiining program since day one.
Unfortunately, Morrisett Jr. is the third OG Sesame crew member to unfortunately pass away this decade, following last year's death of Emillio "Luis" Delgao and Bob McGrath who passed away in March and December 2022 at ages 82 and 90 respectively.
It's currently unknown if Morrisett Jr. or McGrath will get an episode dedicated in their honor, the same dedication that was made to Delgado, Caroll Spinney and Will Lee, the latter, episode #1,839 originally bradocasted over Thanksgiving 1983 is still considered as the most memorable and most emotional episode ever produced in.the networks' existance.
Our prayes and condolences go out to Lloyd's family and the Sesame team at Kaufman Astona Studios who are suffering this very difficult time.
Rest in peace, Lloyd. Thank you for all of your years of contribution and support to the children's entertainment industry. Elmo is very sad about this loss and we will miss you dearly.
RIP
