At least we can FINALLY stop selling all these bananas and go home now.
We are so saddened to hear and mourn the death of the world-famous Jamaican Calypso and Reggae music artist Harry Belafonte, the man responsible for "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)" and "Jump in the Line" recently used in an episode of the Nickelodeon/Nick Jr. series Face's Music Party last summer, as well as performing the PBS/HBO/Cartoon Network's Sesame Street song "The Coconuts Counting Man", who had past away yesterday morning at the age of 96 years old.
Aside from Nickelodeon, his work has also been covered by other international children's music legends Raffi and The Wiggles, the latter on their 2008 video and album You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, which also features covers of Leo Sayer, The Fatback Band and a homage to THe Beatles' legendary 1964 music performance appearance on the classic The Ed Sullivan Show talk show.
So as another famous celebrity dies this year, it's daylight come and going home for us. RIP Harry. Thank you for all of your years of wonderful music and an inspiration to Jamaicans everywhere. You are truly one of a kind and you will be dearly missed maun.
