It's happening again in another bombshell that unfortunately marks the deaths of many famous cable and streaming tv channels that has been happening since the beginning of this decade. Some of Disney and Nickelodeon's biggest names in cable TV are about to be no more.
In the USA,Paramount has announced that The N, TeenNick and NickMusic, three of Nickelodeon's sister networks will be getting the chop alongside one of Comedy Central's services and nine MTV channels, including MTV networks dedicated to 1980s, 1990s and 2000s content. It's currently unknown what date these Paramount USA channels will be axed, though one of Nick's competitors, Warner Bros. Discovery-owned HBO Family will also cease operations on August 15th.
Moving to the Great White North of Canada, Disney Junior Canada, Disney XD Canada, Nickelodeon Canada, ABC Spark and Disney La Chaine will be shut down on September 1st at the end of summer vacation. The reason for these networks going away is due to licensing issues with Corus Entertainment struggling to keep their contracts with Disney and Paramount running smoothly.. Additionally, Amazon.com SVOD Freevee will be axed in August and September 2025.
Don't worry, there are still a lot of cable networks available in this ever modern changing world of streaming television and network execs being lazy by cutting their seasons in halves instead of making a 26-episode season like they're supposed to. Disney Channel Canada, Cartoon Network Canada, Boomerang Canada, Nickelodeon USA, Nick Jr, Treehouse TV and YTV are not affected.
