This summer will be a Great White North vacation of prehistoric proportions. Nickelodeon has just acquired the US broadcast and streaming rights to Kids' CBC's prehistoric Canadian children's program Kiri & Lou (Seasons 1 & 2, 52 x 5-minutes episodes, 13 half-hours). The show will debut on the Nick Jr. channel and Noggin SVOD on Monday June 13th at 6pm ET/5c. The third season (42 episodes, 11 half-hours) bringing the episode count to 94 5-minute episodes (19 half-hours) will drop later this year.
Produced in Australia and New Zealand by London-based production studio CAKE Entertainment, the new series follows the whimsical worlds of Kiri a fiesty dinosaur and Lou a more timeless creature whos a bit shy as they embark on one of the weirdest friendships in children's television history. Together, these two unlikely prehistoric playmates embark on new fantastical adventures in their magical world.
The first two episodes (4 5-minute stories each) will air on Monday June 13th and Wednesday June 15th with the remaining episodes airing in the coming months. The series will also be available to stream via the Noggin SVOD which subscriptions will be 90% off with a purchase of 99¢ subscriptions for the first two months of Noggin SVOD for new subscribers over the summer.
Kiri & Lou is the recent Canadian acquisition for Nick Jr's lineup and one of eight new programs for Nick Jr. and Noggin's 2022-2023 ccontent slate. Other titles include Face's Music Party which dropped Friday, The Tiny Chef Show, Hamsterdale for 2022 and PAW Patrol spinoff focusing on Rubble, not one but two reboots of Dora the Explorer one for preschoolers animated and a live-action bootleg for older children aged 6-11 years old and adaptations of beloved children's books series Bossy Bear and HexVet all slated to roll out in 2023 as well as the Blue's Clues & You! Broadway musical and feature length movie coming out in September and November 2022 respectively.
